Ah! Very cool news- I got the cover story for the November/December issue of SWIMMER magazine hitting mailboxes around the country this week! I wrote a profile of the multi-talented Masters swimmer and Top Chef contestant, Marisa Churchill, who not only happens to be a talented chef and cookbook author, but also a gorgeous swimmer with a ton of charisma and ambition. (She actually reminds me a lot of my friend and fellow Channel swimmer Dori, who was here last week for a short visit from her new home in Sydney, Australia. It was nice to see her and go for a swim in a frigid Walden Pond with the Knuckleheads, but we were sad to let her leave again. Guess I'll just have to start scraping together those pennies for a plane ticket to Oz.)Anyway, back to the magazine... Marisa was a lot of fun to interview and write about, and she had some amazing photos that went well with the story, so voila, I've got the cover story. Very exciting indeed! This is a first for me, and I am so pleased with how the story turned out. Seeing this go live online and hearing that the magazine had been delivered at home was a nice way to top off my week in New York City. I've been here since early Monday for work, and have had a ball seeing the sights in Mid-Town and pretending to be a Gritty City Girl. I also got to swim with the Baruch College Bearcat Masters in the Flat Iron district the other night. Nice facility and a fun workout. All the same, I will be glad to get home this evening. This traveling stuff can be exhausting! Glad I will have some fun reading waiting for me on the coffee table tonight when I get home.
