Back to life and swimming as summer slips away

So the results posting about the 50/50 is very long overdue. And I will post info here about that swim, it's just been difficult to get to between the recovery, usual busy-ness, and the fact that the swim didn't go exactly as I had hoped. In the meanwhile, you can read about my experience in the 50-miler via an article I wrote for espnW about it. This was a tough story to write, and more will follow. Eventually. Photos and all the gory details. Perhaps on a cool fall evening when I am feeling more introspective than I am at the moment.

Right now, though, I am very excited to report the next swim is looming large. In less than two weeks, I'll be part of a group of 12 swimmers traversing the 26-mile length of Lake Memphremagog between Newport, Vermont and Magog, Quebec, Canada. We are going in search of the Lake Monster, Memphre, and hoping to reestablish an annual international swim in that amazing lake up north. More info is available on our website.

This coming Thursday, 9/1, Greg, Jen and I will be hosting a fundraising party for the In Search of Memphre Tour at the Dudley Chateau in Wayland. Festivities start at 6 and go til whenever. We'll be raffling off stuff, making merry, and generally having a good time to help suppore IROC, the amazing facility in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont that this event supports. Come join us!

This past weekend was the annual 3.2-mile Rockland Breakwater Swim. I had an amazing time up there as per usual. More details to follow. Hurricane Irene tried her best to thwart the swim this weekend, but she did not succeed, and I won the women's non-wetsuit event. The weekend prior to that was the Lake Willoughby 4.75-mile swim in Lake Willoughby, Vermont. Another awesome swim in a goregous, clean lake. Can't wait to get back up north soon.

Now, though, it's time to get the fundraising stuff done and get prepare for the Memphre swim. If you want to donate to the cause, please check us out online. Every dollar helps! Thanks for your support!
